Journey to Prema

After many battles with myself and others, I finally reached a breaking point that forced me to change my perspective. What I would like to do here is share a little of my story, with the hope that whoever reads it may feel a little less alone and a little more hopeful.

Quote of the Day

“No one has done anything by which your mind could be made worse.” If our capacity for reason and virtue remains intact, then, in Stoic terms, we have not been harmed, so there’s no call for outrage. In fact, it’s our own outrage that will harm us if we allow it to overwhelm our reason.
The Illustrated Meditations: Life Lessons from Marcus Aurelius

This will always be easier said than done: looking past what someone has done to you. Choosing to be “the bigger person.” Especially when the hurt is ongoing, deeply personal, or something you never imagined you would have to endure.

But I love this quote because it reminds me of one very important thing: you still have the power.

No matter what someone has done to you, you have a choice in how you carry it. You may not be able to control their actions, their words, or the hurt they caused – but you can slowly learn to control what you allow that hurt to do to your heart.

Giving someone the power to knock you completely off balance can mean allowing their actions to continue hurting you long after they’ve happened.

So, lead with your heart. ❤️
Lead with love, even when it’s difficult.
Lead with the quiet confidence that you don’t have to become bitter because someone hurt you.

Sometimes, the people who hurt us are the ones who need compassion the most.

And choosing compassion doesn’t mean what happened was okay. It means you’re choosing not to let someone else’s actions take away the goodness, peace, and love within you.

Protect your heart, but don’t harden it. ❤️
